Expect a counter groaning under the weight of incredibly good homemade cakes, plus a menu with hearty main courses and snacks on offer. There’s picnic bench seating outside, equipped with dog lead posts and freshly filled water bowls, or you can take the pup inside – there’s a sign on the door which reads ‘friendly dogs welcome’. The Black Dog is certainly friendly, and therein lies the problem, he’s quite often a bit ‘too friendly’ for many people. They might want to insert ‘well behaved’ into the equation too.
We stop off here for big slabs of cake and a chai latte after a long walk in the woods. It’s perfect.
