I’ll try not to go on about it, but where the hell is spring? It’s still cold, the swallows (understandably) still aren’t here, and nothing’s in blossom (hardly) yet!
Just as I’m on the verge of stamping my foot, what do I spy on our morning walk? The first bit of blackthorn blossom this year. I love blackthorn, it’s one of the first things to bloom down in Cornwall and does so even before it gets any leaves, and the flowers are incredibly delicate and pretty – not what you’d expect from such a hardy spiky shrub.
So here you go, I took the picture above as evidence. I’ll be keeping my eyes heaven bound for a sighting of the swallows who’ll beckon the return of warmer climes!
